The following passage from one of his letters (published in a collection of Merton&#8217;s letters entitled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/015640141X\/beliefnet\">The Hidden Ground of Love<\/a>&#8220;) is the Catholic author&#8217;s version of &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0399144463\/beliefnet\">Who Moved My Cheese?<\/a>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There must be a time of day when the man who makes plans forgets his plans, and acts as if he had no plans at all. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There must be a time of day when the man who has to speak falls very silent.
