President Obama has talked about his Christian faith, once again. He explained at a New Mexico town hall-style discussion on the economy yesterday that he’s Christian “by choice”<\/a> — wording presumably meant to reassure anyone who thinks he’s a “born Muslim” because of his atheist\/estranged\/deceased father’s African Muslim roots. <\/p>\n

Obama’s response, to a question about abortion rights (so much for talking about the economy!), included this quote:<\/p>\n

“I came to my Christian faith later in life, and it was because the precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in terms of the kind of life that I would want to lead. Being my brothers’ and sisters’ keeper. Treating others as they would treat me. And I think also understanding that, you know, that Jesus Christ dying for my sins spoke to the humility that we all have to have as human beings.” <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He goes on to talk about the importance of religious freedom for everyone, however, and — going back to the original question — reiterated that he believes abortion should be “safe, legal and rare” in America and a decision that is best made by families, not the government.<\/p>\n

Well, that — along with his recent church attendance <\/a>— should settle it for those 1-in-5 Americans who think Obama’s a Muslim. Or, not, given what else one out of every five Americans believes in<\/a>. (Remember, there’s always that one dentist who holds out on recommending the healthy toothpaste, too!)<\/p>\n
