A suggestion by board member Bob Craig to revise the resolution so that it more generally reflects the importance of balance and accuracy when portraying any religious group was rejected in favor of specific critiques of how Muslim history is presented.<\/p>\n

Social conservatives on the board warned of what they describe as a creeping Middle Eastern influence in the nation’s publishing industry, the AP reported. They emphasized the restrictiveness of Muslim cultural norms and the danger of terrorism in contrast to Christianity. They dismissed the idea that Christians share a history of violence motivated by faith in the crusades.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
