But, <a href=\"http:\/\/content.usatoday.com\/communities\/Religion\/post\/2010\/03\/rediscover-the-sabbath-on-national-day-of-unplugging\/1#uslPageReturn\">all this coverage <\/a>of the <a href=\"http:\/\/interact.stltoday.com\/blogzone\/civil-religion\/general\/2010\/03\/sabbath-manifesto-and-the-national-day-of-unplugging\/\">Sabbath Manifesto&#8217;s&nbsp;<\/a>call for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/03\/18\/fashion\/18sabbath.html\">&#8220;National Day of Unplugging<\/a>&#8221; has inspired me to try something that seems more&nbsp;manageable and&nbsp;potentially beneficial:<\/p>\n<p>From sundown today (Friday, March 19) until sundown tomorrow, this Jewish-based experiment aims to, as <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/idolchatter\/2010\/03\/national-day-of-unplugging-a-s.html\">Beliefnet&#8217;s Idol Chatter blog&nbsp;<\/a>explains,&nbsp;get &#8220;the nation&#8217;s multitasking, hyperconnected, iPhone-waving, Tweeting, Facebooking, tech-addicted masses (to) put down their devices and reconnect with the things that are really important.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>(Those who know me are definitely laughing pretty hard right now.) <\/p>\n<p>Well, I&#8217;ll&nbsp;keep my phone on for incoming&nbsp;messages &#8212; I&#8217;m far too neurotic\/addicted to risk missing an emergency call&nbsp;or breaking news (which is, after all, my livelihood) &#8212; but I&#8217;ll at least&nbsp;attempt to abstain from initiating anything, including powering up my laptop.
