Is <em>USA Today&#8217;s <\/em>Cathy Lynn Grossman&nbsp;on to something, wondering whether <a href=\"http:\/\/content.usatoday.com\/communities\/Religion\/post\/2010\/07\/gay-marriage-god-proposition-8-religion-\/1?csp=34&amp;utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed:+Religion-TopStories+(News+-+Religion+-+Top+Stories)\">religious attitudes on gay marriage&nbsp;come down to something like daddy issues<\/a>? I suspect that it&#8217;s no coincidence, although correlation should never be confused with causation, that another religion news trend lately concerns younger&nbsp;evangelical Christians striving to distance themselves from polarizing social issues in favor of environmental causes, immigration reform and helping the poor.<\/p>\n<p>(My two cents: Whether or not the <a href=\"http:\/\/religion.blogs.cnn.com\/2010\/07\/19\/has-the-religious-right-lost-its-children\/\">religious right is &#8220;losing its children,&#8221;&nbsp;<\/a>meaningful support for political candidates still comes down to their opposition to abortion, same-sex marriage and other gay rights issues &#8212; regardless of where they stand on oil drilling regulations, guest worker programs, etc. If that changes,&nbsp;stop the presses.)<\/p>\n<p>What do you think?
