You know, the one that also may have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.economicpolicyjournal.com\/2011\/12\/did-coffee-fuel-age-of-enlightenment.html\" target=\"_blank\">fueled the Enlightenment<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>This is what great coffee looks like &#8212; it brews up thick, and rich, w\/ lots of lovely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattlecoffeegear.com\/learn\/coffee-101\/articles\/what-is-crema\" target=\"_blank\"><em>crema<\/em><\/a> on top. It&#8217;s where the coffee&#8217;s volatile oils (those yummy fragrant &amp; tasty things) live, after you brew it. Or, in my case (this is my beloved&#8217;s coffee), pull the espresso shots. That then go in to a glass with a dollop of condensed milk, ice, and milk to top it all off. Ah, Vi\u1ec7tnamese coffee &#8212; shades of my youth.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m trying to focus my gratitude this month on the little things in my life that I sometimes take for granted: great coffee, great tea, my (currently weed-ridden) garden.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9459\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9459\" style=\"width: 199px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/beginnersheart\/files\/2014\/11\/vietnamese-coffee-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9459\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/239\/2014\/11\/vietnamese-coffee-2-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"the author's\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9459\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">the author&#8217;s<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>No one doubts that I&#8217;m very grateful for my beloved, my wonderful sons &amp; DIL &amp; grandson, or my incredibly loving sisters and their children. But sometimes, we forget that our everyday lives are also rich in magic.<\/p>\n<p>So here&#8217;s to coffee, and to the focus required to make it well.
