Typically I’m not one for watching black and white shows from the 1950’s and 1960’s but this one was particularly interesting.

It was about a man named Archibald Beechcroft who was just tired of “dealing with people”, ranging from those on his subway train commute to work to the people at his job…and basically everyone else. He just wanted to eliminate all people from the world.

One day at his job he was given a book which deals with how to use the power of concentration to get whatever you want.

He tests this out and sure enough the very next day he starts to see the results…he realizes that he can eliminate people.

On his subway commute to work…the commuters disappeared.

When he walked in to his job it was empty…no people.

He was even able to eliminate his landlady from collecting his monthly rent.

Beechcroft soon became bored to tears with this way of living.

Then he came up with a better idea….to repopulate the world in his image. Or put another way, to make everyone else just like him.

And just like with trying to eliminate all the people from the world, he quickly found out that this was also a big mistake…

Because every person he came across was rude, anti social, and cranky just like him.

Finally he had enough and put his power of concentration back on having the world as it was before.

As a result, he was able to resume his life and be more grateful that everyone else wasn’t like him.

So why is this important and how does it apply to you?

Because it involves something you’ve done at some point in your life…and in many cases you weren’t aware of it.

What I’m referring to is, trying to get people to be just like you.

Now you may be thinking, “Well I don’t do that.”

Yes you do. We all do to some degree.

How can you tell?

Easy…anytime you get angry or upset at somebody else, to some degree you are trying to get them to be just like you. And notice I said, “to some degree.”

For example…

When you’re driving down the road and someone cuts you off or fails to put a signal on at the last second, you’ll most likely get angry about it. And the angrier you get the more you’re wanting them to be like you because you’ll be priding yourself on never doing what they just did.

This may seem like an innocent situation and it is. Let’s take a look at another example.

When you’re in a relationship with somebody—it could be a marriage or within your own family—and they stay out late doing something you don’t enjoy, you’ll most likely get annoyed and angry about it.

Why?

Because it goes against what you feel is right. And you’ll also pride yourself on never having done what they did.

Both of these situations are examples of trying to get someone else to be just like you.

Now of course different situations occur in varying degrees. In each case it still involves trying to get someone to be just like you.

Keep in mind that this isn’t a bad thing, it’s something to be aware of.

Now think about it for a moment. What if everyone were just like you?

The funny thing is that they are…and they’re not.

Let me explain.

As strange as this sounds, we are all the same but we’re different. What I mean by this is that you have every human trait—the positive and negative ones—just like every other person has. However, it’s through your unique expression of those traits that make you different.

Let’s say you see a person as being rude. They were rude to you because they looked the other way when you were speaking to them. Now you may say that you’re not rude or that you’re not rude in the same way they were.

Now when you look through your life, let’s say that you realized you were rude to your best friend when they told you they were about to give a potential business partner $100,000, only to find out later that it was a scam.

At first your friend may have thought you were rude because you were firm with them and ignored them. However, your friend listened to you anyway. As a result you just saved your friend from losing over $100,000.

Now you see the point?

Of course this is one example. And when you look through your life you’ll see thousands of them as it applies to your situation.

So, why is all of this incredibly important to you?

Because it gives you a chance to get new ideas, a chance to grow, and allows you to realize your inner brilliance in your unique way…

While at the same time not projecting the way you feel it “should” be on to somebody else.

This works the other way too…by making you aware if others are trying to project on to you the way you “should” be. And you’ll know this to be the case if you find yourself saying, “I should”, “I have to”, “I’m supposed to”, and so on.

Always remember…

You are just like you. And that is what makes you a very special person.

It makes you unique.

It makes you realize how magnificent you really are.

And it gets you to see the tremendous amount of value you contribute to the world by being your amazing self.

This is something that’s very funny and quite serious at the same time… Recently I was watching an old “Twilight Zone” episode.
