As you’re reading this right now something new has taken place…<\/p>\n
And so has something old.<\/p>\n
First the old…the end of 2013.<\/p>\n
The new…it’s now the beginning of 2014.<\/p>\n
With that being said I want to wish you a wonderful, inspired, and Fulfilled New Year.<\/p>\n
Yes, we all hear every year, “It’s out with the old and in with the new.”<\/p>\n
But is it really?<\/p>\n
As 2014 is about to begin you’ll be on to new things in your life.<\/p>\n
You’ll meet new people.<\/p>\n
You’ll have new opportunities.<\/p>\n
You’ll have new experiences.<\/p>\n
You’ll have new supports and challenges.<\/p>\n
But what about the old?<\/p>\n
You see, many times we are looking so much to get rid of the old that we actually keep having the “old” show up in our lives.<\/p>\n
I used to look at the new year as a time for a new beginning, a time to get a fresh start. And I still do.<\/p>\n
However, now I also like to look back on the “old” of the previous year and see how that can serve me and others in the upcoming year.<\/p>\n
So is it really out with the old and in with the new? Yes and no.<\/p>\n
You can also look at it like this…<\/p>\n
You’re a sculptor. And just like a sculptor who is creating his masterpiece art, you’re creating your own masterpiece.<\/p>\n
As you sculpt away you keep refining down that thick slab of clay until you get it to look like you want.<\/p>\n
You may keep what was there before with that original slab of clay. You may get rid of some of it altogether.<\/p>\n
You just keep chipping and sculpting away until you have the masterpiece you originally visioned.<\/p>\n
And this is exactly what to do as you get rid of the “old” and bring in the “new” into your life, except that you can still keep parts of the old…<\/p>\n
Because that so called “old”—the very thing you may think you want to get rid of—can be the very thing that helps you make room for the new beginnings in your life.<\/p>\n
Keep this in mind as you go through 2014…<\/p>\n
While at the same time realizing how 2013 has served you in the different areas of your life.<\/p>\n
And one final message for today…<\/p>\n
