“Love my uncertainty.” – Sathya Sai Baba \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I like to know what\u2019s going to happen next. I\u2019m the kind of person who will pick up a book, read the last lines and then start from the beginning. I tend to be that way in life too. I like to plan ahead and know (more or less) what to expect. But, at least for me, life has been filled with a lot of big surprises. They include twists and turns that I love to see in movies, but would rather not watch happen in my life. Divorce, unexpected moves, the death of a friend. My mind almost immediately turns to the big \u201cnegative\u201d experiences. But there have been a lot of big positive experiences too. Getting two books published, traveling to places like Bali and the French Alpes, and meeting wonderful people around the world.<\/p>\n

When I traveled to India one of my teachers there said, \u201cLove my uncertainty.\u201d I wrote his words on an index card that I have kept visible in my meditation space for years. I love the idea of embracing uncertainty \u2013 after all, life would be pretty boring if we knew the story before it happened. It ultimately means putting faith and trust in that invisible, Divine hand that guides and prompts every thought, word, and action. As I look back at all of the things that have happened, both \u201cgood\u201d and \u201cbad\u201d, all of them have led me onto the next steps on my journey. Everything has arrived at the right time and my dreams and inner wisdom often provide good information to help me make the right decisions for what comes next. So if you\u2019re like me and like to know what to expect, perhaps the next best option (certainly better than worry) is to embrace it. Hug the uncertain, unpredictable world and prepare for miracles to unfold. <\/strong><\/p>\n
