Is it possible to be lifted into the light by the company you keep or the thoughts you think and the prayers you say? For many years I\u2019ve heard people send \u201clove and light\u201d via emails and notes. Pure, white light it seems is a quality of divinity which elevates us into higher realms of consciousness. Radiance is a spiritual quality. One can meditate on the light to charge and energize the body. To those with the ability to perceive the subtle bodies, it apparently clears out gunk and builds us up. Author of \u201cHands of Light\u201d and NASA scientist, Barbara Brennan, works with light and the subtle bodies to bring healing on deep levels. She has acquired Higher Sensory Perception and perceives the subtle bodies of clients. Her work is taught at her schools in Florida and Austria.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve sometimes perceived the subtle bodies of others and also experienced moments of flashes of light in meditation as well as at the feet of a great teacher in India. It\u2019s a tradition in India for people to go to see these teachers for darshan<\/em>, that is to see a holy being and receive light and inspiration. For those with subtle perception light emanates from these elevated souls and helps to uplift and heal others simply by being near them. Mirabai Devi is one of these teachers who both lives in the light and transmits it. Her first experiences of living in light began as a child. She has experienced various states of what the Vedas refer to as samadhi, or unity consciousness.<\/p>\n

Today, at age forty-two, she attracts people worldwide who seek to be in her presence. She does not claim to \u201cdo\u201d anything. Instead she ask\u00a0the light to work through her and says that she transmits it to people to help them. Mirabai encourages people to connect with their divinity through regular spiritual practice. These include forgiveness prayers, Sanskrit mantras, meditation, Pranayama breathing practice, golden light visualizations, being conscious of every thought, word or deed, positive thinking and following a devotional path of service or seva<\/em> as well as bhakti (devotional) yoga.<\/p>\n

Living in the light helps us to move out of fear and into joy, peace and love. Noticing our thoughts, words and actions and putting the focus on the positive are powerful tools to link us to the Divine. \u00a0I love Mirabai\u2019s quotes in her book, Samadi.<\/em> \u201cYou are not the doer,\u201d she writes. \u201cAll you have to do is let go. Everything has always been there for you. You are love. You are everything. Drop the false sense of self, and trust the process of life.\u201d Her words ring in harmony with the wisdom of the ages.
