Samhain celebrates the darkest time of the year and the ascendancy of the Holly King (darkness) over the Oak King (light).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: italic\"><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2299\/1788858733_aa95035ab3.jpg?v=0\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px;text-align: center;cursor: pointer;width: 420px\" src=\"https:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2299\/1788858733_aa95035ab3.jpg?v=0\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/><span style=\"font-style: italic\">This poem by Kabir is a beautiful remembrance of the power of darkness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The darkness of night is coming along fast, and<br \/>the shadows of love close  in the body and<br \/>the mind. Open the window to the west, and disappear<br \/>into  the air inside you.<\/p>\n<p>Near your breastbone there is an open flower.<br \/>Drink the honey that is all  around that flower.<br \/>Waves are coming in:<br \/>there is so much magnificence  near the ocean!<br \/>Listen: Sound of big seashells!
