When we built our house we took the passage of the moon into consideration, and it rises through the bedroom windows and then shines through every window before setting at the front door. <\/p>\n<p>The full moon last week was at its &#8220;perigee,&#8221; meaning the opposition between the sun and moon occurred when the moon is closest to the earth.   Richard Nolle coined the term &#8220;SuperMoon&#8221; to refer to this phenomenon, and has kindly provided a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.astropro.com\/features\/tables\/cen21ce\/suprmoon.html\">table for these events<\/a> on his website.<\/p>\n<p>In any event, the moon seems brighter and invades the darkness with a great deal more energy during the SuperMoons than in other full moons, although I haven&#8217;t been able to find any statistical correlations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I didn&#8217;t sleep much over the past week, a fact which I attribute to the power of the moon shining in my window.
