As I wrote a few days ago<\/a>, “Pluto is associated with war of the nuclear type” so it is an interesting synchronicity of timing that just as Pluto changed direction to retrograde, President Obama of the US and President Medvedev of Russia signed a historic arms control treaty, hoping to reverse<\/em> the challenging relationship between the two superpowers and to re<\/em>duce the number of nuclear arms stockpiled by both nations.<\/p>\n

 Retrograde periods of any planet tend to turn our attention to the past and to any areas of our lives that need repair or rebuilding.   The treaty that George Bush signed in 2002 allowed 2200 strategic warheads; the new treaty would deploy no more than 1550 warheads for each country.   There are big loopholes in the treaty but it re-establishes an inspection regime (Saturn retrograding back into Virgo) to “bring the two countries back into a legal framework after years of tension.”  Source: NYT.
