{"id":1341,"date":"2009-01-12T19:40:07","date_gmt":"2009-01-12T19:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/astrologicalmusings\/2009\/01\/mercury-retrograde-and-financi.html"},"modified":"2009-01-12T19:40:07","modified_gmt":"2009-01-12T19:40:07","slug":"mercury-retrograde-and-financi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/astrologicalmusings\/2009\/01\/mercury-retrograde-and-financi.html","title":{"rendered":"Mercury Retrograde and financial news"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mercury turned retrograde yesterday, and the stock markets all over the world responded\u00a0<span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Mercury Rx.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/69\/import\/images\/Mercury%20Rx.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" class=\"mt-image-right\" style=\"float: right;margin: 0 0 20px 20px\" \/><\/span>today with the expected reversal that usually occurs during Mercury Rx periods. \u00a0In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average appears to have peaked around January 6 when Mercury (communication and ideas) began separating from Jupiter (optimism and opportunity) and reality began to beckon. \u00a0Mercury, now appearing to travel backwards from our perspective on earth (retrograde motion) will approach another conjunction to Jupiter on January 15th when it will be trined by the Moon. \u00a0This is a time when we will want to feel optimistic with the Moon there adding an emotional craving to the Jupiterian optimism. \u00a0Will that be enough to drive some life into the markets? \u00a0<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>And what about the economic stimulus package that Barack Obama is rushing through Congress? \u00a0Thankfully, it looks like Congress will not deliver this bill until early February, well after Mercury turns direct. \u00a0But will a stimulus package be enough to overcome the mood of fear that Pluto in Capricorn has wrought? \u00a0The New York Times wrote, &#8220;the biggest obstacle to economic activity right now is not a shortage of money.
