Fascinating Changes Occurring Around Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height:150%\">I have just read and then printed<br \/>\nout for further study a fascinating article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schwartzreport.net\/\">Stephan Schwarz<\/a> alerted me to by Hanna Rosin on &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/magazine\/archive\/2010\/07\/the-end-of-men\/8135\">The<br \/>\nEnd of Men<\/a>.&#8221;<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The article starts<br \/>\nout with an account of the strange things now happening when families get to choose<br \/>\nthe gender of their child. <span>&nbsp;<\/span>When<br \/>\nthis technology first arose people worried that it would lead to<span>&nbsp; <\/span>a serious disproportion of male babies<br \/>\nbecause world wide, people wanted sons more than they wanted daughters.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>It turns out it didn&#8217;t happen that<br \/>\nway.<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--EndFragment--><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent:13.5pt;line-height:150%\">Requests for<br \/>\nfemale babies now vastly outnumber requests for male babies.<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent:13.5pt;line-height:150%\">Something very<br \/>\ndeep is taking place in American society &#8211; and apparently other societies as<br \/>\nwell.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Even in ultra macho<br \/>\nJapan.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>I hope these tid-bits have<br \/>\nencouraged you to read the article.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent:13.5pt;line-height:150%\">Rosin&#8217;s piece<br \/>\ngives us a new vantage point on the rise of NeoPaganism and the Goddess<br \/>\nreligions.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>First taking off in the<br \/>\nlate 60s, NeoPaganism then helped inspire the efforts by Christian, Jewish, and<br \/>\nBuddhist women to raise the status of women and the Divine Feminine within their<br \/>\nown spiritual traditions.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>As I<br \/>\nresearched the writings of these women over and over again I found Starhawk<br \/>\nmentioned as an important force in their thinking.<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;Other feminist Pagans, such as Z Budapest, also receives frequent praise. &nbsp;<\/span>My guess is that future historians will regard Starhawk<br \/>\nas an important spiritual force in America.
