Mothers’ Day is a day to honor not only our mothers but
\nmotherhood in general, the bringing of beings into life and nurturing them.  It’s hardly surprising but sadly unknown that it began as a push against the<\/span> urge of the powerful to fight wars and kil<\/a>l other people’s sons.  <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>My mom died in 2008, I have no children,
\nand my godson is 3000 miles away.  <\/span>So
\nI’m lighting a candle to my mother on my altar, next to a photo, and helping a neighboring single
\nmom celebrate her day of honor.<\/p>\n
