I was talking with my friend Jim about the strange new
\nRepublican effort to rewrite history: that no terrorist attacks took place
\nduring George Bush’s presidency. 
\n<\/span>Diana Perino<\/a>, Mary Matalin<\/a>,  and now “Mr. 9\/11” Rudy Guiliani<\/a> <\/span>have said it.  Even setting 9\/11 aside there have been at least three terrorist attacks, the <\/span>anthrax attacks<\/a>, the <\/span>shoe bomber<\/a>, and an attack at an <\/span>El Al ticket counter.<\/a>  In the anthrax and El Al cases, people died.<\/span><\/p>\n

These liars are not light weights in
\nRepublican politics and they are all masters at communication.  <\/span>There are too many lies here to be accidental,
\nunless conservatism and alzheimer’s go together. <\/span><\/p>\n

Anyway, this tactic struck us both as Stalinist to the core.  <\/span>The Party Line changes from “George
\nBush kept us safe after 9-11” to “Terrorists have attacked us under Obama but
\nnot under Bush” and the apparatchiks immediately shift their message.  <\/span>Repeat a lie often enough and some people,
\nespecially overpaid media stenographers, will eventually include it as one of “two
\nsides” making it a partisan issue rather than one of truth or lie.<\/p>\n

The Republicans have proven apt students of the old
\nCommunist Party.<\/p>\n
