\nSebastopol’s regular demonstrators, one group against the latest war, the other
\nsupporting our troops, standing on the corner where the cash machine
\nstood. <\/span>Not in the mood for
\npolitics, when I noticed the bank was nearly empty I walked inside before I got
\nto them, preferring to cash my check there. <\/span>But as I walked back out to the corner, I looked at the
\nsigns behind me. <\/span>The ones I
\nusually agreed with said “War is another form of terrorism” which seems pretty
\naccurate given the number of wedding parties and groups of civilians our drones
\nhave shot up, while the other simply said “Support Our Troops.”<\/p>\n
\na friendly conversation with the “Support Our Troops” sign carrier. <\/span>Turns out her son is serving over
\nthere. <\/span>She was an open warm woman
\nwho felt if we didn’t support them they should come home. <\/span>I told her I strongly supported their
\nwell being, had friends with children over there, and wanted them to come home. <\/span>All true. <\/span>I gradually got them all talking, and with a cheer for all
\nthe signs, continued on my way.<\/p>\n
\nthat infest this country, who almost to a man never served their country in
\nuniform, have done such a thorough job of turning Americans against one another
\neven when at root they do not always disagree that profoundly. <\/span>Demonize the other side and it all
\nfalls apart. <\/span>Just like with rank
\nand file conservative Christians and their ruthless leaders. <\/span>It’s very sad, a dreary thought on a wet and dreary day.<\/p>\n
