What do John L. Perry, Jim DeMint, Wiley Drake, Steven Anderson, and the prominent conservative news site, NewsMax, have in common.  A hatred for democracy when they lose is a start.  The political disease that calls itself modern
\nconservatism is increasingly showing its colors.  <\/span>And it
\nbehooves us Pagans to keep our eyes open.<\/p>\n

\nIn news media sponsored by the Republican National
\nCommittee<\/a>, 
\non Newsmax John L. Perry spoke happily of the good things that would come from
\na military coup taking over the United States.  <\/span>Nothing else would really do, he suggested.  <\/span>Never mentioned was that in democracies
\nwe have elections to accomplish such tasks – and we have one scheduled next
\nyear.      <\/span><\/p>\n

When
\nfor some reason people objected, Newsmax took it down, identifying Perry as an
\n“unpaid blogger<\/a>,” l<\/a>
\nSomehow they never mentioned he has regular column for about ten years and had
\nbeen a former editor<\/a> of the site from 1999 to 2001. 
\nClassy.      
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

And now, nationally recognized “Christian” pastors have conducted
\nprayers<\/a> for God to kill Barack Obama.  <\/span>The message of Jesus was given an

\nsimilarly demonstrated devotion to democracy and Christian love<\/a>. My thanks to Cheryl for bringing these lunatics to my attention.

In the midst of all this South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint
\nhappily planned to travel to Honduras, to meet with the dictator who used a
\ncoup to oust their elected President. 
\n<\/span>DeMint supported the coup<\/a> in June.                
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The US has yet to recognize the criminal regime, civil liberties such as
\nfreedom of the press have yet to be restored, though the coup happened quite
\nsome time ago, and our foreign policy disapproves of overthrowing elected
\nleaders.  <\/span>None of which matters to
\ndeMint. When he visits perhaps he’s hoping to pick up some pointers.             
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Once they started losing elections, the conservative love of democracy
\nand our constitution has soured. 
\n<\/span>They have even turned to hating America as a whle, as when so many
\ncheered Chicago not getting a chance to host the 2012 Olympics. Increasingly<\/a> 
\nthey are preaching violence and revolution.             
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s hard now to imagine conservatives vehemently attacked the Dixie
\nChicks for disloyalty because they dared admit they did not like Bush II.  <\/span>But they did.
