Some time earlier this blog was a scene of considerable
\ndiscussion as various self-described religious people attempted to justify
\ntorture.  <\/span>A common claim as I
\nremember was that it worked, that it saved American lives. Dick Cheney said that
\nso far unreleased documents would exonerate him in that regard, and his craven
\nlap dogs happily piled on in his support.<\/p>\n

Guess what?<\/p>\n

\nThe documents have finally been released, and as those who
\nhave studied Cheney and his types over the past few years suspected, he
\nlied.  <\/span>What was exposed were
\nthreats to kll a detainee’s family, rape a detainee’s wife, and similar
\nexamples of right-wing and Bushite patriotism in action.   <\/span>As is so often the case. Digby
\nhas compiled a great report<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Glenn Greenwald has also done his usual great job giving us a better understanding <\/a>of what has gone on and what it means.<\/p>\n

Neither “Mr transparency,” Barack Obama, nor Congress had
\nanything to do with getting the truth to the American people.  <\/span>The ACLU was responsible.<\/p>\n

Frances Fragos Townsend, a homeland security adviser  and close to Bush , admitted late last night on CNN that there is no evidence in the report Cheney said would settle the issue that  torture gave us us crucial information<\/a>.   Think Progress has additional information<\/a>, as does Spencer Akerman<\/a> at the Washington Independent. <\/p>\n

I am developing a quick way to tell the accuracy of right wing republican claims.  If they say it is true, it is not.<\/p>\n
