I spent quite a bit of time thinking about how I was going to honor this day. My father loved his vegetable garden. When I was younger he would get up around dawn and spend a few hours weeding his garden. There was never a weed in sight and he loved his garden.<\/p>\n<p>When my dad came to live with me the first time I had a vegetable garden put in for him. The other day I noticed it was getting pretty over run with weeds. So, after some prayer and meditation I decided to honor the day of my dad&#8217;s passing by working in the garden.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/angelsonyourshoulder\/garden%20dad.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"garden dad.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/68\/import\/assets_c\/2010\/06\/garden%20dad-thumb-175x234-15140.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-left\" style=\"margin: 0pt 20px 20px 0pt;float: left\" height=\"234\" width=\"175\" \/><\/a><\/span>I am always amazed at some of the events the universe has in store for me. I went to the garden and lovingly weeded the pepper patch and thought about my dad. I enjoyed staking the plants and putting compost around the roots. I decided I would mulch the patch so I went back to the house and got the box of used computer paper from under my desk.<\/p>\n<p>The last piece of paper I pulled out of my recycle box was a picture of my dad smiling at me. It was from a post I wrote on his birthday. I cried at the unexpected sight of his smiling face and knew he was with me weeding his garden. I lovingly put his picture under one of the pepper plants. I couldn&#8217;t have done that intentionally in a million years.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the picture.
