When I was in college I switched majors many times. I started out as a physics major and ended up as a Math major. I love Math and history so I took almost as many history classes as Math.

Seems the first Father’s Day card was created 4,000 years ago by a young boy named Elmusu when he wished his Babylonian
father good health and a long life by carving the message on a clay tablet. In countries, where the Catholic Church has significant influence Father’s Day is often celebrated on St.
Joseph’s
Day (March 19).

As the story goes the idea for creating a day for children to honor their
fathers began in Spokane, Washington. A woman named Sonora Smart
Dodd, who had been raised by her father after her mother’s death thought of the idea while listening to a
Mother’s
Day sermon in 1909. Since her dad was born in June she organized a Father’s Day celebration on June 19th of 1910.

President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as
Father’s Day in 1924. In 1972 Father’s Day was established as a permanent
national
observance to be held on the third Sunday of
June by President Nixon.

Roses are a traditional Father’s Day flowers. Red
is worn for a living father and white if the father has died.

My father died last year so I guess this year it will be white roses for me. This week it will be a year since he passed. I miss him a lot. He lived with me for the last year of his life. Every morning he would walk past my office on his way to the bathroom, wave and wink at me.

Have a Happy Father’s Day and if your dad is still alive let him know how special he really is, after all without him you wouldn’t exist.

With love and aloha,
Susan

Angels are everywhere just open your mind and your heart to the signs.

Make Angels on
Your Shoulder part of your daily routine and share it with a
friend!

Seems the first Father’s Day card was created 4,000 years ago by a young boy named Elmusu when he wished his Babylonian father good health and a long life by carving the message on a clay tablet.

[26,3,12,13
406
post-421","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-beliefs","category-happiness","category-kindness","category-love","tag-history-of-fathers-day

Father's Day - history - Angels on Your Shoulder

Seems the first Father's Day card was created 4,000 years ago by a young boy named Elmusu when he wished his Babylonian father good health and a long life by carving the message on a clay tablet.
{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/angelsonyourshoulder/2010/06/fathers-day-history.html
{"@id":"https://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/angelsonyourshoulder/#website
{"@id":"https://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/angelsonyourshoulder/#/schema/person/b87299a8cec940d47d994d9cb2ccb40c
@id":"https://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/angelsonyourshoulder/2010/06/fathers-day-history.html#breadcrumb
en-US
@type":"ReadAction
https://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/angelsonyourshoulder/2010/06/fathers-day-history.html"]}]},{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/angelsonyourshoulder/2010/06/fathers-day-history.html#breadcrumb
@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
Father’s Day –
