It is a traditional day of celebration proceeding Ash Wednesday. This year New Orleans has a lot to celebrate<\/a>. First a miraculous Super Bowl win and now a full schedule of parades for Mardi Gras for the first time since Katrina.<\/p>\n

There is no doubt that the period of celebration that we is called Carnival
\nhas roots in pagan end-of-winter and beginning-of-spring rituals
\nreaching back thousands of years.<\/p>\n
