We, unaccustomed to courage
\nexiles from delight
\nlive coiled in shells of loneliness
\nuntil love leaves its high holy temple
\nand comes into our sight
\nto liberate us into life.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Love arrives
\nand in its train come ecstasies
\nold memories of pleasure
\nancient histories of pain.
\nYet if we are bold,
\nlove strikes away the chains of fear
\nfrom our souls.
\nWe are weaned from our timidity<\/p>\n

In the flush of love’s light
\nwe dare be brave
\nAnd suddenly we see
\nthat love costs all we are
\nand will ever be.
\nYet it is only love
\nwhich sets us free.<\/p>\n

\nSometimes, I think that Noon
\nIs but a symbol of the Place\u2014
\nAnd when again, at Dawn,<\/p>\n

A mighty look runs round the World
\nAnd settles in the Hills\u2014
\nAn Awe if it should be like that
\nUpon the Ignorance steals\u2014<\/p>\n

The Orchard, when the Sun is on\u2014
\nThe Triumph of the Birds
\nWhen they together Victory make\u2014
\nSome Carnivals of Clouds\u2014<\/p>\n

The Rapture of a finished Day\u2014
\nReturning to the West\u2014
\nAll these\u2014remind us of the place
\nThat Men call “paradise”\u2014<\/p>\n

Itself be fairer\u2014we suppose\u2014
\nBut how Ourself, shall be
\nAdorned, for a Superior Grace\u2014
\nNot yet, our eyes can see\u2014<\/p>\n
