Since its Monday, I was going to write more about the holidays and depression it seemed very appropriate. I looked up the lyrics and as I read them I realized that they described how we create depression and misery in our lives.

The holidays in and of themselves create neither joy nor sadness, they are emotionally neutral. It took me years to realize I created my own depression. The holidays are an event, then we tell ourselves a story about the holidays and then we create our emotional response based on that story. If you experience loneliness and depression learn to take different actions and tell yourself a different story. (Remember depression can be a serious medical condition and requires the care of a knowledgeable physician)

People often get confused when I talk about life being emotionally neutral because they are unaware of their inner dialog. When we are focusing our attention, consciously or out of habit, on our inner dialog we have disconnected from our spirit, God, the angels and usually our own happiness.

Monday, Monday, so good to me
Monday mornin’, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday mornin’, Monday mornin’ couldn’t guarantee
That Monday evenin’ you would still be here with me

Monday, Monday, can’t trust that day
Monday, Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday mornin’ you gave me no warnin’ of what was to be
Oh Monday, Monday, how could you leave and not take me

Every other day, every other day
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
A-you can find me cryin’ all of the time

As you read the lyrics you can really see that Monday is just Monday but the lyrics imply that every Monday the person is crying.

The holidays is such a wonderful time of the year to reach out and help others. When I didn’t have a job one year I volunteered to help feed the homeless. I would spend sometime each day looking for a job and then spend the rest of the day giving to others rather than worrying about not having a job. This year is the first year I have no biological family. I could get really bothered about that depressed or just smile as I watch families, feel the magic of the lights and enjoy looking at the decorations and really allow myself to experience the joy of the holidays. I choose to enjoy the holidays.

Tomorrow I will talk about specific angels that help us feel joyous and connected.

With love and aloha,
Susan

Angels are everywhere just open your mind and your heart to the signs.

Make Angels on Your Shoulder part of your daily routine and share it with a friend!

The holidays in and of themselves create neither joy nor sadness, they are emotionally neutral.
