I think gratitude is a wonderful spiritual practice and think dedicated a whole day to it is just awesome. I have celebrated the holiday in many different ways. One year I served meals to homeless people, another year I went hang gliding, I have spent the day alone in silence and surrounded by friends and family. When I lived in San Diego
I took my left overs to the beach and feed a bunch of people who lived there.

I think this holiday is a wonderful time to be grateful for what we do have and to share our love with random acts of kindness.I still remember the first time someone told me I was the answer to their prayers. It sure felt good.

As I thought about this season I remembered the saying, “I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.” I am not sure when I first heard it or where it comes from but I think it is very applicable to the idea of being an angel for someone in need. As I look back over my life, no matter what was happening, if I took the time to be grateful solutions and angels in all their various forms appeared.

No matter what is happening in your life right now I can guarantee if you are grateful for what is and reach out to help someone else magic and miracles will occur, in both your lives. The paradox I found was I needed to reach out in love and gratitude without an agenda. If I helped others in hopes of getting it didn’t work, if I helped out of love and gratitude with no strings attached the unexpected rewards were amazing.

Be someone’s angel just because. Sure it feels good to help but do it just because. Volunteer at a local homeless shelter, visit the elderly in a nursing home near by, pick up liter you see along the way, pay for someone’s cup of coffee, put a quarter in a packing meter or simply take the time to smile at all the people you meet. Immerse yourself in love and watch your life blossom and grow.

Look in the mirror and gently say your name several times and then with all the feeling you can muster say ‘I love you.’ Do that 3-4 times a day and you will be an angel of love for yourself.

Here are a few sites about becoming someone’s angel this season. Feel free to post your own ideas in the comment section.

Adopt a soldier and become their angel
I want to be an angel for someone an anonymous organization, great stories of hope

If you Google becoming an angel there are hundreds of organizations. You can volunteer at a local animal shelter if you are an animal lover. There are some many ways we can become everyday angles.

With love and aloha from one angel to another,
Susan

Angels are everywhere just open your mind and your heart to the signs.

Make Angels on Your Shoulder part of your daily routine and share it with a friend!

I think gratitude is a wonderful spiritual practice and dedicating a whole day to gratitude is awesome.
