She is determined to<br \/>\ncontinue her journey  with this important trip north, even amid the<br \/>\npost-election turmoil in  her homeland.<\/p>\n<p>Almost a year after a devastating earthquake, angry  Haitians are<br \/>\nhurling tragedy&#8217;s rubble into the streets, setting tires,  buildings and<br \/>\ncampaign signs ablaze.<\/p>\n<p>The political unrest delayed  Maxi&#8217;s trip by a day. But on this<br \/>\ngloomy morning in December, the air  thick with impending rain, she was<br \/>\nup before daybreak to call the  driver.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Are we going today? What time will you pick me up?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She  awoke with the kind of nervous excitement that the wife of a<br \/>\nsoldier  returning from war might feel.
