{"id":545,"date":"2011-04-24T06:36:48","date_gmt":"2011-04-24T10:36:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/activistfaith\/?p=545"},"modified":"2011-04-21T15:48:54","modified_gmt":"2011-04-21T19:48:54","slug":"he-is-risen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/activistfaith\/2011\/04\/he-is-risen.html","title":{"rendered":"He Is Risen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><sup>1<\/sup> After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.<\/p>\n<p><sup>2<\/sup> There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from  heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. <sup>3<\/sup> His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. <sup>4<\/sup> The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.<\/p>\n<p><sup>5<\/sup> The angel said to the women, \u201cDo not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. <sup>6<\/sup> He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. <sup>7<\/sup> Then go quickly and tell his disciples: \u2018He has risen from the dead and  is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.\u2019 Now I have  told you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><sup>8<\/sup> So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. <sup>9<\/sup> Suddenly Jesus met them. <span>\u201cGreetings,\u201d<\/span> he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. <sup>10<\/sup> Then Jesus said to them, <span>\u201cDo not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>-Matthew 28:1-10, NIV<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Today we celebrate Easter, the resurrection of Jesus, the Messiah, the Christ, the only Son of God.
