A local task force, including friends of mine, were deeply involved in the fight to crack down against sexual exploitation during this time period.<\/p>\n<p>However, another related effort at the Texas state level called SB 98 has been under consideration that would provide state funding to assist shelters providing aftercare for former trafficking victims. I signed a petition started at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.change.org\/petitions\/fund-trafficking-shelters-as-part-of-sb-98#signatures\" target=\"_blank\">Change.org<\/a> along with 370 other people directed toward Sen. Leticia Van de Putte (D-San Antonio).<\/p>\n<p>On March 29th, it was announced this bill had passed.<\/p>\n<p>Details continue to develop, but here&#8217;s the point: If you support a cause, one action, along with the efforts of many others, can help create real change. In this case, 370 people signing a petition started by one person sent to one state senator will result in funding to restore the lives of those impacted by slavery.<\/p>\n<p>Isn&#8217;t that worth a few moments of your time?<\/p>\n<p>+++<\/p>\n<p><strong>DILLON BURROUGHS<\/strong> is an author, activist, and          co-founder of Activist      Faith.
