The Free to Believe Campaign has been successful so far, but we
\nstill need to pray for the final outcome. UN delegates are about to make

For those who do not know, the Free to Believe campaign is a campaign
\nspeaking against the Defamation of Religions Resolution. The Defamation
\nof Religions Resolution, introduced in the UN, seeks to criminalize
\nwords or actions that are deemed to be against a particular religion,
\nespecially against Islam. Although proponents justify the “defamation of
\nreligion” concept as protecting religious practice and promoting
\ntolerance, it really promotes intolerance and human rights violations of
\nreligious freedom and freedom of speech for religious minorities in
\nthese countries. <\/p>\n

Before, this resolution has passed in non-binding terms. However,
\nthis can likely change in the future and could become binding. The
\nDefamation of Religions Resolution has the effect of providing
\ninternational legitimacy for national laws that punish blasphemy or
\notherwise ban criticism of a religion. This is why it is so important
\nfor us to speak out against it. <\/p>\n
