We went yard sale shopping last weekend. It seemed like there was a different sale on every corner. People selling all sorts of stuff they no longer want or need. Nice things, ratty things, all sorts of things \u2026 after all, one person\u2019s junk is another person\u2019s treasure!<\/p>\n

I wanted to ask the host of each sale, What do you plan on doing with the money you earn here?<\/em> But I wasn\u2019t so sure it would be a well-received question. I imagined some of the answers:<\/p>\n

It\u2019s none of your business little lady. It\u2019s my money. I\u2019ll do what I want with it!<\/em><\/p>\n

Pay off my debt. I\u2019ve been going through Dave Ramsey\u2019s book and I\u2019m sacrificing now so I can live later.<\/em><\/p>\n

Go on vacation. We\u2019re going to travel the world with this money!<\/em><\/p>\n

Put it in the bank. You never know when a rainy day might hit.<\/em><\/p>\n

We have yard sales for all kinds of reasons. But have you ever thought that having a yard sale just might change the world?<\/p>\n

Through a little project called Garage Sale for Orphans<\/a>, yard sales are doing just that. Changing the world for orphans all over the world. You just pick a project, gather all your junk, host a yard sale, send the money to Help One Now, and change a life (or maybe even a few).<\/p>\n

And if you want to make an even bigger difference, you could gather the whole neighborhood together. I bet everyone has a few pieces of junk they could get rid of. The kids could even set up a lemonade and cookie stand. If people don\u2019t want your junk \u2013 maybe they\u2019ll at least want a cookie!<\/p>\n

My favorite part about this project is that you not only get rid of junk and make money to donate, but you also raise awareness about the extreme poverty that exists all over the world.<\/p>\n

And let\u2019s be real \u2026 who doesn\u2019t love a garage sale for a cause?<\/p>\n
