Joe Manganiello was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended Catholic school. He began acting in order to become a better filmmaker. He transferred to Carnegie Mellon School of Drama after a year at the University of Pittsburgh. He appeared in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” two years after graduating from Carnegie Mellon. He went on to take roles in a variety of films, but one of his best known roles is that of werewolf Alcide Herveaux in the HBO TV series “True Blood.”
