Andrew McCutchen was born in Fort Meade, Florida. His father, Lorenzo McCutchen, gave up his dream of playing in the NFL to be close to Andrew and Andrew’s sister, Loren, and became a church minister before marrying Andrew’s mother in 1992. Andrew played football in high school and was offered a full-ride to the University of Miami as a football player, but he decided to pursue a career in baseball. He was called up to the major leagues in 2009 by the Pittsburg Pirates. He played with them until he was traded to the San Francisco Giants in 2018 and was traded again to the New York Yankees later the same year.
