Peter Jackson is a celebrated director, writer, and movie producer, and famously known for his adaptation of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Born in New Zealand, he took early interest in film, especially directing. At 8 years old, he started shooting videos with friends using a Super 8 given to him as a gift. He shot The Valley. Using his friends as talent at no extra cost, one early project, Bad Taste, was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

Some of his more prominent works include Lord of the Rings and Lovely Bones. He also produced The Long and Short of It, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, District 9, and West Memphis.

He earned Order of New Zealand in 2012 and is known to have a cameo in most of the films he’s written, directed, or produced.
