  • Faith: Christian
  • Career: Musician
  • Birthday:  November 25, 1960

Amy Grant wrote and performed her first song when she was 15. She made a demo of the tape with her parents and church youth-leader, and Christ Christian, the owner of the studio, overheard the recording. He sent it to World Records who offered Grant a contract just over a month before her 16th birthday. When she was 18, she performed her first ticketed concert. She ended up dropping out of college to pursue a career in music. Her early success also saw her acquire one of her trademark quirks, performing concerts barefoot.  In the 1990’s, Grant expanded her audience with a more mainstream and pop sound despite that being frowned on for Christian musicians at the time. She eventually returned to working with hymns and more traditional Christian music, but her pop songs “Baby Baby” and “That’s What Love Is For” were chart toppers.
