Brendan Fraser is an actor. His breakthrough role came in 1992 in the comedy “Encino Man” and the drama “School Ties.” Fraser gained further recognition for his starring roles in “Airheads” and “George of the Jungle.” Then, he emerged as an A-list leading man by playing Rick O’Connell in “The Mummy” film trilogy. He took on dramatic roles in “The Passion of Darkly Noon,” “The Quiet American,” and “Crash.”

Fraser also starred in other fantasy roles in “Monkeybone” and “Looney Tunes: Back in Action.” His film work slowed from the late 2000s to mid-2010s due to poor box officer performances of many of his films and various health and personal issues, including the fallout from an alleged sexual assault committed against him in 2003 by Philip Berk, the then-president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Fraser moved into television with roles in the Showtime drama “The Affair,” the FX series “Trust,” and “Doom Patrol.”

Roles in Steven Soderbergh’s “No Sudden Move” and Darren Aronofsky’s “The Whale” revitalized Fraser’s film career. His starring role as an obese gay man in “The Whale” earned him critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Actor, becoming the first Canadian to win the category. Fraser was born in Indiana in 1968, the youngest of four sons. His family moved often during his childhood, living in Oregon, Seattle, Ontario, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. While on vacation in London, Fraser attended his first professional theatre show, “Oliver!,” which started his interest in acting.

He graduated from Seattle’s Cornish College of the Arts in 1990 and started acting at a small acting college in New York City. Fraser planned to study toward a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Southern Methodist University but stopped in Hollywood on the way and decided to stay there to work in film.

What religion is Brendan Fraser?

It’s unknown if Brendan Fraser associates with a particular religious belief. Most believe he’s Jewish because of his role in the film “School Ties,” where he plays David Greene, a working-class Jewish kid from Scranton, Pennsylvania, who enrolls in an elite New England prep school for his senior year of high school to play quarterback for the prominent football team.

Fraser’s character is urged to conceal his religion and is an instant success on the football field. However, Fraser hasn’t publicly claimed Judaism or any other religion.
