Sean Combs, also known by his stage names P.Diddy, Puff Daddy, or Diddy, is a record producer, rapper, actor, and record executive. Born in Harlem, Combs worked as a talent director at Uptown Records before founding his record label, Bad Boy Records, in 1993. Combs has produced and cultivated artists like Mary J. Blige, the Notorious B.I.G., and Usher. His debut album, "No Way Out," has been certified platinum seven times. It was followed up with "Forever,” "The Saga Continues," and "Press Play."

In 2009, Combs formed the group Diddy-Dirty Money with singers Dawn Richard and Kalenna Harper. The group released their collaborative album "Last Train to Paris." Combs released his fifth studio album, "The Love Album: Off the Grid," in September 2023. Combs has won three Grammy Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards and is the producer of MTV's "Making the Band." In 1998, he founded the clothing retailer Sean John and was nominated for the Council of Fashion Designers of America award for Menswear Designer of the Year in 2000. He won the award in 2004.

He's been the brand ambassador for vodka retailer Ciroc since 2007 and co-founded the TV network and news website Revolt in 2013. In 2022, Forbes estimated his net worth at $1 billion. In late 2023, Combs' former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against him for sexual assault, which was settled. In the following days, three more lawsuits were filed by three additional claimants, with more allegations of sexual violence ranging from 1900 to 2003. In the wake of the allegations, various collaborators and companies cut ties with him.

Sean John Combs was born in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City in 1969. Raised in Mount Vernon, New York, his mother, Janice, was a model, and his father, Melvin, served in the U.S. Air Force. When he was 33, Melvin was shot while sitting in his car when Sean was two years old. Combs graduated from Mount Saint Michael Academy in 1987 and played football for the academy. His team won a division title in 1986. Combs said as a child, he was given the nickname "Puff" because he would "huff and puff" when he was mad.

Combs was a business major at Howard University but left after his sophomore year. In 2014, he returned to Howard to receive an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities and deliver the university's 146th Commencement Address.

Through the years, Combs has faced a number of legal issues. He has been involved in lawsuits related to his business ventures, including his Sean John clothing brand and Cîroc vodka and DeLéon tequila labels. Additionally, he has faced multiple lawsuits alleging sexual assault, harassment, and rape, as well as claims of sex trafficking and physical abuse. On March 25, 2024, properties tied to Combs in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami were raided by the Department of Homeland Security related to an unspecified ongoing investigation.

What religion is Sean Combs?

Combs was raised as a Christian. In 2016, it was revealed that Combs and his producer Stevie J created Bad Boy Records' first gospel album titled “Thank You” but never released it. In an interview with Ebony Magazine about the album, Combs said, "I liked going to a Baptist church with my grandma; she was the one who really put me up on God. I don't go to church every Sunday, and I'm not overly religious, and maybe I'm not the best person to do this album, but I want Thank You to be an album from the average person's point of view to get our message across. Not all the artists are Bad Boy artists, but they're all part of the family."
