Miley Cyrus is a singer, actress, and songwriter. Dubbed the “Pop Chameleon,” she’s been recognized for her musical versatility and continual artistic reinventions. Cyrus has also been referred to as the “Teen Queen” of the 2000s and is regarded as one of the few examples of a child star who went on to have a successful career as an adult. The daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, she emerged as a teen idol at 13 years old while playing the titular character of the Disney Channel TV series “Hannah Montana.”

As Hannah Montana, she attained two number-one and three top-five soundtracks on the Billboard 200 and the US Billboard Hot 100 top-ten single “He Could Be the One.” Cyrus’s initial solo career consisted of the teen-friendly US number-one albums “Meet Miley Cyrus” and “Breakout.” These releases contained the top-ten singles “See You Again” and “7 Things.” The pop-rock EP “The Time of Our Lives” peaked at number two in the US, while its lead single “Party in the USA” became one of the best-selling singles of all time in the country and was later certified diamond by the RIAA. She also released the country pop ballad “The Climb,” which peaked at number four.

Trying to reinvent her image, Cyrus explored dance-pop in her third album, “Can’t Be Tamed,” which received mixed reviews; its title track reached the top ten in the U.S. In 2013, she signed with RCA Records to gain more artistic control. After a hiatus, Cyrus underwent a provocative and mature musical shift with the hip-hop-influenced pop and R&B album “Bangerz,” which became her fifth number-one album. After signing with Columbia Records, she released “Endless Summer Vacation, which was preceded by the lead single “Flowers,” which set several chart and streaming records. “Flowers” won the Grammy for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2024 Grammys, while the album was nominated for Album of the Year.

Outside of music, Cyrus starred in movies like “Bolt,” “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” “The Last Song,” “LOL,” and “So Undercover,” and appeared in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” On TV, she led and produced the documentary “Miley: The Movement,” served as a coach on “The Voice,” and starred and executive produced the Disney+ documentary concert special, “Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions.)”

What religion is Miley Cyrus?

Miley Cyrus was raised as a Christian and baptized in a Southern Baptist church before moving to Hollywood in 2005. While growing up, she attended church regularly and wore a purity ring. However, Cyrus included references to Tibetan Buddhism in the lyrics to her song “Milky Milky Milk,” and is also influenced by Hindu beliefs. In 2020, she shared that she stopped going to church because her gay friends weren’t accepted and had to undergo conversion therapy. In a conversation with Hailey Bieber, Cyrus said, “I was also brought up in the church in Tennessee at a time in the ‘90s, so it was a less accepting time with all that. I had a hard time with me finding my sexuality, too.”
