Jennifer Carpenter was born in Louisville, Kentucky and trained at the Walden Theater Conservatory. She later attended Juilliard as well. Before she had finished her training at Juilliard, however, she was cast in the 2002 Broadway revival of “The Crucible.” Her career really took off following her performance in “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” which was viewed as so credible by her colleagues that they nervously joked that she might have actually been possessed. She is most famous, however, for her role of Debra Morgan in the series “Dexter.” Once again, she was praised for her committed and convincing performance as the series’ titular serial killer’s sister.
