Belinda Carlisle was raised in Southern California and began her music career as a drummer in the Los Angeles punk band the Germs in 1977. She is best known, however, as the lead singer of the Go-Go's, one of the most successful female bands in history. Following the dissolution of the Go-Go's in 1985, Carlisle began working as a solo act. She had several radio hits, including "Mad About You" and "Heaven Is a Place on Earth." She published an autobiography, "Lips Unsealed," in June 2010 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her time with the Go-Go's.
