Another thing you can do if you’re a Christian looking to practice yoga is try various yoga classes or DVDs. There are some instructors that include elements of Eastern practice into their yoga classes, but there are others who do not. Find a class that focuses more on stretching, breathing and being in the moment – not classes that focus on Hinduism, which is out of line with your faith. There are even some churches and recreation centers that offer Christian yoga, incorporating faith into exercise.

Yoga doesn’t have to have a negative influence on you. It’s really what you make it. The deep-breathing and focus that comes along with yoga can actually allow you to feel closer to God and draw you closer to Christ. Many Christians who practice yoga have cited feeling more emotionally connected with God during practice. This can be a great opportunity to allow your prayers to lift up high to Christ.
