1. Know your Triggers
When you’re a migraineur like I am, you get to know certain triggers that set off attacks. Red wine, processed meats, aged cheese, nuts – these are just a few of my favorite no-no’s. Many foods and beverages have been known to set off these ‘sick-headaches’ (your doctor can help you discover what to avoid) and unfortunately, they’re never more in-your-face than during holiday parties. When I’m tempted to indulge, I just think, “How merry is my Christmas going to be if I’m writhing in pain?” and it’s easier to stay away from tempting triggers.
