As long as we live on earth with other people there will be sickness, and lots of germs. The word germ has been used for decades. We just toss it around like Kleenex, but what is the definition? These invisible creatures are defined as a microorganism, especially one that causes disease. It is pretty straight-forth, right? Not really, there are 4 kinds of germs, they include viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and fungi. In order to live they need humans, plants and animals. During this cold and flu season, don’t be taken in by these microorganisms, which cause an average of 2-3 colds per year in adults. Start looking for germs in cars, planes, kitchens, restaurants, or anywhere people congregate. Here are 6 hot spots for germs that you might not be able to avoid, but can be more aware of.

Airplane Cabins

This is a no brainer, but airplanes are such a hotbed for all kinds of germs. Be aware of the seat pockets, armrests, trays, and the bathrooms. Germs love to hide in the cabin air of the plane, as it is recycled through the flight. If one person has a cold, you could be exposed. Try to avoid touching the seats before you disinfect them or wipe it down with alcohol. Also, refrain from touching the overhead lights, window shades, air vents, seat belts, and the toilet buttons without a tissue. E. coli, norovirus, and bacteria that causes the common cold could all be on the surface areas of these items. The best way to avoid getting sick is to limit what you touch, and to make sure the immune system is strong.

Perhaps you never thought of a car dashboard being a place for germs. There are millions of others germs in the car. They are on the floor, door handles, seats, and on the steering wheel. But the dashboard seems to be a favorite to eat on. The problem is when you are on the run and you place food on the dashboard and use it as a table. Maybe you think it can’t be that bad, but when the air-condition or heat is on, all those germs are headed right into your sandwich. Not so appetizing, as the smallest morsel food can be a victim of germs, leading to sore throats and colds. Just like at home, use disinfectants to clean the car, wipe down all surface areas, and don't use the dashboard as a snack table.
