Ayurveda is the ancient science of health and healing that uses the body's own wisdom and intelligence to balance or heal itself. It was developed during the Vedic times thousands of years ago, when the sages of India believed that the mind, body and soul need to be in alignment for a person to be happy and healthy. This is why, when you go to an Ayurvedic doctor with an ailment, he doesn't merely treat the disease, but starts with questions about your eating, sleeping and working habits, emotions, relationships, and lifestyle choices. It is important for us to get back this holistic way of thinking to prevent diseases and chronic illnesses, rather than to treat them in exclusion with pills and potions.
