About 19 million Americans are living with depression, and is a serious medical condition. "In contrast to the normal emotional experiences of sadness, loss, or passing mood states, clinical depression is persistent and can interfere significantly with an individual’s ability to function,” the US National Institute of Mental Health reported. To help us function through this, we need to be uplifted. Words have a powerful impact on our lives. The make us feel unstoppable, or like a failure. When someone is depressed they’re even more vulnerable to words, actions and deeds. Depression is real, so when someone is going through a period of despair lift them up with words of encouragement, and pass these quotations along for them to be reminded to keep the faith. “I have not the shadow of a doubt that any man or woman can achieve what I have, if he or she will make the same effort, and have the same hope and faith,” Mahatma Gandhi said.
