Regardless of adult or childhood onset, anyone who is formally diagnosed with ADHD can get help to address symptoms that might interfere with everyday functioning. It is often useful to work with an ADHD coach who can help you play to your strengths and weaknesses.

Usually this includes help with developing structure, organization, managing your time and money, prioritizing your life tasks, minimizing distractions and managing stress. Exercise and eating healthy are also areas of focus.

Medication options are available. Usually a combination of coaching and medication works best, but check with your physician as stimulants should be avoided for certain medical conditions.

Finally, a diagnosis doesn’t define a person. In this case, it simply describes a neurobiological disorder, not a person’s character or personality. Regardless of diagnosis, you are wonderfully and fearfully made. Embrace and celebrate your uniqueness.
