What is the connection between lupus and light sensitivity?
For many lupus patients, exposure to ultraviolet rays can cause lupus to flare. UVB rays are especially problematic, and are found in “sunlight or artificial inside light, such as fluorescent light (LFA)." People with lupus who are photosensitive should work closely with their doctors to understand how to protect themselves from exposure to these kinds of light (see www.lupus.org for more details).
