Do a Body Check-in
It doesn't take very long, maybe a day or two, before I realize that my body is feeling extra stress. That's a surefire sign that I've slipped back into my old ways. My favorite way to center myself and get back to my more mindful self is to sit quietly and try to feel my fingertips, a trick learned from Eckhart Tolle. Once I feel them I know that I am present and aware and I instantly calm down.
