A Difficult Journey Whether healing takes place or not depends a great deal on the choices we make along the way. The journey of grief is not a comfortable ride on an aircraft in which, once we are in transit, we have no responsibility until it is time to disembark. The journey of grief is more like a marathon over treacherous terrain. It requires personal commitment, great effort, and the willingness to experience pain. It requires strategy, pacing, endurance, and determination to reach the goal. Not everyone finishes the race.
