T. S. Eliot was born in Saint Louis in 1888, but he moved to London in 1914. Three years later he wrote his first major poem, "The Love song of J. Alfred Prufrock." In 1948, Eliot won the Nobel Prize for Literature. His "Collected Poems" include obscure gems you may not have run across before, as well as more famous poems like "The Hollow Men." As a foretaste, here's a brief passage from "Prufrock":

We have lingered in the chambers of the sea By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown Till human voices wake us, and we drown.
